COSPLAY CUP
Sign-up date/time/location:
-
Sign-ups will be Saturday, the day of the con, on a first-come, first-served basis, near the Main Stage on the first floor. If you signed up online, you will need to check in at the table. Sign-ups will happen from 12 pm to 3 pm.
-
VIPs can register early at 11 am – 3 pm.
Entry types:
- Competitive:
There will be 30 spots available. As there was an opportunity to sign up online prior, there may be limited spots on the day of the con. So please come to the table ASAP to enter. If you signed up online, please still check in at the table ahead of the lineup time. - Show Off:
After competitive contestants have walked the stage, the MC’s will announce a chance to line up and show off your costume in a non-competitive forum for fun, giving the judges time to deliberate.
When to get ready:
- We ask all contestants to come to the right of the stage to start lining up by 4:00 pm (there will be staff there to assist). We will perform a role call. IF YOU’RE NOT THERE by 4:15 pm, WE WILL CONSIDER YOU ABSENT. Please plan accordingly to make sure you are on time. The Cosplay Contest starts at 5:00 pm.
When you will be judged:
- If you signed up online, your first round of judging is complete, as the judges have already reviewed your photo submissions. Please still check in at the table on Saturday before the lineup at 4 pm starts. If you did not sign up in advance, your first round of judging will take place on stage. Following your walk, the judges will approach for visual inspections and questions.
Awards Available to win:
- Best in Show:
This award will be bestowed upon whoever demonstrates the best and most accurate build, from fabric to armor, and even LEDs. We are looking for the master of cosplay. - 2nd Runner Up:
Even the best cosplayer has a close competitor. This award goes to those who have demonstrated a clear ability to compete against the very best. - Young Star Award (15 years old and under):
This award goes to a rising cosplayer who demonstrates above-average craftsmanship at a young age. (This does not exclude anyone 15 and under from being able to win Best in Show or Runner Up.) - Audience Favorite:
This award will be given to the contestant who truly energized the crowd. Nothing is better than the screams of fans to remind you of your greatness. - Judge Honorable Mention:
Judges have a keen eye for someone on the right path to greatness. This award is designed to inspire passion and remind the recipient that their time is coming soon. With hard work and dedication, nothing can stop them.
What are you being scored on?
Creativity:
Here the judges will see if you use multiple mediums. If you were able to work with what you had well, and even how unique your choices were.
Execution:
The judges will be looking for how accurately you crafter your costume, and how much attention to detail was given.
Stage Presence:
The judges will be scoring points for those who really embody their character and give off a great vibe on stage. Example: Instead of standing on the X, try doing a gentle spin to show off a dress, or a fun pose your character does.
